FOCUS IS STUDENT – CENTERED

Students form the heart and soul of FOCUS. Simply put we exist to reach every student in university and college for Christ and equip them for effective service in and after campus. Hence our fellowships, trainings, partnerships and activities are all geared towards helping Christian students to effectively respond to issues and challenges they face in and out of college in a godly and responsible way.

Every student is an important component of the CU

Every year, more than 40,000 students join the institutions of higher learning in Kenya. Of these, about 15% are born again Christians who from the onset are inducted and introduced into the life of the respective Christian Unions (CUs). These believers meet regularly for fellowship, nourishment and equipping both in large and small groups. They also passionately minister to their non-Christian counterparts, hence creating growth within the CU. Each of these individual members of the CU forms the basic unit of the Fellowship of Christian Unions (FOCUS). Students in each CU elect leaders (officials) to coordinate their campus ministry.

Every CU is part of a Region

For ease of management, FOCUS is organized into seven (7) Regions; Southern Nairobi,Northern Nairobi, North Rift, Central Rift, Western, Pwani  and Mt. Kenya. Each CU is part of a region and students in each region meet every so often for fellowship, training, experiential sharing and networking. The Chair and Secretary of each FOCUS-affiliated CU in a region meet their counterparts to form the Regional Students Executive Committee [RSEC]. Five officials are elected to spearhead the regional students’ affairs.

Students at the core of FOCUS Leadership

Moving from the individual, CU, regional to the national level, the Chair and Secretary of each of the regional committees [RSECs] meet their counterparts to form the National Students Executive Committee [NASEC]. Here as at the regional levels they elect five officials. It is these five (5) officials that take their place in the FOCUS Coordinating Council or FCC [the equivalent of a Board of Governors in the market place]. This ensures that no policy decision can be made without discussion by and approval of students.

FOCUS is therefore about Students, for Students & by Students
