My name is Diborrah Kwamboka. I served as a STEM staff in Nyeri CUs.

I look back on the 8 months of my STEM journey and I see growth, refinement, lessons learned and the impact made. Students’ ministry has been a worthwhile experience with both joyous and challenging moments that I could not replace with anything else. STEM allowed me to interact with students, work with teammates, enjoy the fellowship of associates and raise resources for the ministry. It is through these tools that I have experienced transformation into a better person today. I have developed skills like; resource mobilization, organizational effectiveness, communication, problem-solving, and preaching, among others.

For this great opportunity, I thank God for His faithfulness through the journey. I acknowledge FOCUS staff, through various programs for empowering and equipping me for the Students’ ministry. I thank my team leader and my teammates for their support. I am also grateful to my partners and the associates in Nyeri for their support, encouragement, and prayers. Especially, I acknowledge the students in Nyeri for that made my stay peaceful and a blessing.

As I transit, my prayer is that I will bring an impact to society. I desire that the effect of my growth will be felt and seen in not only my circle of friends and family but also in the community as a whole. I pray that I will hold onto that which I have learned and practice it in life. I also pray that I will remain faithful and diligent in my next step in life.

I am an alumnus of Karatina University’s Main Campus with a BSc in Food Science and Nutrition. I had opportunities to serve in the CU, as an Art and design organizing secretary, Bible Study Coordinator, Chairperson, and Vice-chairperson of Mount Kenya RSEC. I served as the STEM IT and at Garissa University CU.

I developed an interest in working with FOCUS in 2019 during the EZRA conference. I loved how everything was well coordinated and the perfection in their work. I loved the campus ministry facilitators CMFS worked at our campus and admired the lifestyles of the STEM staff. However, I did not feel as qualified as they were. I doubted my ability in the position and was afraid of engaging with large groups.

At some point, I went through a tough season in my life. But I experienced love and care like never before. I understood the mercy of God and my faith was strongly grounded. With the help of God, friends, and other support systems, I was very refreshed for life and ministry.

I have gained experience in creative design and social media algorithm management through this period. I was able to deliver interactive designs for the website, mobile app, and social media. I gained skills in stakeholder relations and strategic brand visibility to the outside market. I managed to cover different live stream events and record and edit content. I am a refined person and a more inspired worker.

I had a thrilling experience of ministry in Garissa County. I loved the culture of people there, and how students are working to make their lives better. I had the honor of training and mentoring students, sharing the gospel, and giving oversight to them. 

May the Lord God almighty bless FOCUS Kenya, I pray for all the staff and stakeholders. May the Lord help FOCUS to accomplish and execute all the plans, objectives, and strategies set for the growth of the ministry. I am indebted to the investments of my colleagues and team leaders, my partners, family, and friends. 

My name is Caroline Gatwiri. I have been serving in Pwani Region as the STEM Staff to Mombasa Town Cus.
The Lord has worked on me making me a better vessel for his glory each day. I am grateful to God for giving me a chance to be part of what He is doing among students.

STEM has helped me to understand that I am called to be the salt and light of this world and my life should be a reflection of who Jesus is. Students want to see my life modeling the Christ I proclaim and this has changed my perspective on how I should live each day. The journey has helped me build convictions on Christian family and marriage.

Personal growth has been my priority this season. I have learned to live a balanced Christian life by cultivating spiritual disciplines. Journaling and reflective writing have been nurtured as well. I have had opportunities to attend self-leadership training and apologetic classes to increase my capacity-building skills in discipleship and mentorship. Interpersonal and communication skills have grown through STEM engagements, preparing and sharing sermons, and facilitating discipleship classes. I have experienced growth in my mentorship and counseling skills also. The dynamics of different CUs have always been an opportunity to learn and grow each day. This has given me great joy in serving the Lord wholeheartedly and taking the challenges as an aspect of growth.

A big thank you to the blessing of FOCUS associates, partners, and friends who have played a great role in my STEM journey. They have always been there in my high and low moments in ministry prayed with me and offered support, and encouragement. I pray that the Lord will bless them and richly reward them for offering their time and resources for me. I am glad to have spent my time with Mombasa CU students. I have enjoyed the warm fellowships and retreats. May the Lord will keep and sustain them.

I am transitioning to my training in teaching where I will hopefully be a resource to the students. I desire that as apostle Paul states, I shall not run aimlessly nor fight like a boxer beating the air, but instead be keen to not be disqualified at the end.

My name is Grace Mutheu Mutunga, the STEM staff at the Technical University of Kenya (TUK) and Kenyatta University School of Law ( KUSOL) CU. 

Joining STEM was one o the best decisions in my life. I came on board in January anxious about what to expect. I felt insufficient for this task. But God has been faithful and I have seen the fruits of trusting in Him.

I have become more intentional in my walk with the Lord and learned to trust Him fully.

I have made many friends with FOCUS staff, associates, and students and intend to keep them beyond this period. My communication and public speaking skills have grown through sharing sermons, interactions with students, and facilitating leadership training sessions. 

I would like to thank FOCUS Kenya for the opportunity to serve among students. It has been a journey of self-awareness and very impactful. I am grateful for the intentional mentorship by my team leaders. I am thankful for the support of my partners, friends, and family. 

Finally, as I transit, I pray for clarity on where the Lord wants me to be. May my confidence in God’s will be unwavering through this season. I am encouraged that; God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord (1Corinthians 1:9).
