I am David Wainaina, the STEM Staff to KTTC and UoN lower Kabete Christian unions. I’m grateful to God for the privilege to serve amongst the students for the last year, a journey that has created a lifetime impact on me. When joining the program, I definitely knew that my leadership skills were going to be sharpened, I would grow spiritually and have a broad network of friends.
Everyday interactions with students in various meetings; from discipleship, the executive committee, and CU’s fellowships gave me a sense of purpose. It was always fulfilling to have a one on one talk with students, facilitate training, and to preach. Hosting students in the STEM house would always bring wonderful experiences of sharing our life journeys, cooking together, playing games, and engaging in candid discussions. Seeing smiles on their faces after all these would always warm my heart.
The STEM program is more of becoming and being made. Over the last year, I have experienced great transformation and growth that has helped me develop lifetime values and convictions. Commitment to excellence, honesty, and integrity in dealing with money, hard work, and being a faithful steward are some of the values I have acquired. I have come to understand that Serving God requires a deeper connection with Him which gets built daily through the disciplines of prayer and meditation and the study of the word.
STEM has helped me gain skills such as resource mobilization, content development, mastering the art of public speaking, and financial management.
My prayer is that the Lord will continue to sustain the students in KTTC and LKCCU in their Christian walk and give them more burden of reaching out to their fellow students. To those who have supported me financially, may the Lord bless you and never let your cups run dry. May the Lord continue to be the pillar that sustains FOCUS ministry and give more opportunities for reaching many students.
It is through the STEM program that I have received clarity in my calling, God has stretched my faith and built my character. Even as I take another bold step of continuing with student ministry, I am confident of His leading and guidance. It will be another year of God working in me and through me.
