My name is Gacau N. Josphat. I studied at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology and pursued Bachelors of Science in Information Systems and Knowledge Management.
I was born in a Christian family and since childhood, I knew that going to church, as from Sunday school was mandatory. This really helped me to nurture the discipline of fellowship and the desire to know God. As a teenager, I remained committed to the fellowship but not necessarily walked in obedience to the Word of God. I struggled with lots of little foxes, especially during my High School life.
My discipleship journey started in High School. I was a committed member of the C.U and I had friends whom we used to walk with though not openly shared our struggles. There was this one close friend whom I considered a Mentor. He was ahead of me with one class. He diligently walked with me and tried his best to keep me on the right track. After joining campus, I experienced a life-changing experience immediately I joined the C.U. I found out about the CU myself when, from my room, I heard members praying from the Multi-purpose inside campus and I went to join them.
When I enrolled in the Anza-Fyt program; I met a friend called Shadrack Heidi who set my pace as far as my walk with God was concerned. This brother gave out his life, selflessly shared out his life with me, and taught me how to do devotion amongst other things. Being Chairperson of Ezra 2016 conference Mobilization Committee, this brother convinced me to attend. I could not register then because I had insufficient money, Julius Mugambi, our then STEM staff, supported me with Kshs. 500 for registration which I did. In spite of my financial struggles, I managed to attend the conference. From that moment on, I can simply say that I am the product of FOCUS both as an organization and as a movement. I’ve built friendships, accountability groups, served in many leadership positions in different capacities, by which I have grown as a follower of Christ.
The process of joining STEM has been characterized by lots of fear, anxiety and confusion. This was because I had totally different plans and I had never nursed the thought of serving God through STEM. Having interacted with friends who joined STEM before, I got influenced and decided to do it because it is indeed a rich program. I desire to be a better person and to learn the disciplines of living an impactful life. I look forward to having a life-changing experience as I learn and share out my life with students.
I pray that God will connect me with people who will support and walk with me throughout this internship program, prayerfully and financially and that this experience may bring me closer to God and that I may fulfill His purpose in this service.
So touching testimony, we celebrate of God’s faithful nature
