It was a pleasure to be given this opportunity to serve with FOCUS Kenya, I am Lydiah Awuor Ochieng, I studied a bachelor’s course in Communications and Public Relations at Moi University – Main campus.
The grace of God leading to salvation was made manifest to me in Form Three of my Highschool. Upon joining Moi University, I joined the Christian Union upon being invited by a friend. During this time I got a deeper knowledge of God through the programs the CU offered for our spiritual growth. I met several people serving with FOCUS who mentored me. Time management, self-discipline, and consistent Bible reading are just but a few things they rubbed on me.
My joining Short Term Experience in Ministry (STEM) has been faced with a number of challenges but the Lord called and convicted me and made it possible for me to be part of this great course. Having watched closely the admirable lives lead by the FOCUS staff in my Christian Union, I became more certain that it was just the transformation I needed. Therefore, I am ready to be used by the Lord in the task He has given me. I pray for more transformation in different areas of my life as I do STEM. I pray that I would become a Christian who is beyond reproach in character and a person of influence that this world needs.
My prayer for the students I will be serving is that they will all grow in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and in every area pertaining to their lives. I also pray for those that the Lord has graced to stand with us in different ways in this ministry. May the Lord use many to support His work and ensure its success and in turn, may God supply all their needs according to His riches in glory through Christ Jesus.
My sincere gratitude is to the Fellowship of Christian Unions (FOCUS) fraternity for giving me this opportunity, and for the many lives that have been touched by it, I pray that the Lord will continue to establish FOCUS, and cause more lives to know the Lord through us.
