My name is Sharon Waithera Thiong’o. I recently completed my studies at Machakos University where I pursued Bachelors in Commerce, Finance option.
I was born to a Christian mother. She took me to Sunday school at a young age to learn God’s Word and to be baptized. I lived a life of emptiness, sin, and lack of fulfillment until I met the Savior in Form One and surrendered my life to Him. He made me a new person, gave me hope, peace, and a promise of eternal life, this is the only reason I’ve made it this far.
I joined Machakos University Christian Union soon after orientation to the campus and have become a great beneficiary of its strategic Ministry among students especially in my journey of self-discovery and pursuit of God. FOCUS through the intensive CU discipleship programs has helped me grow in my knowledge of the Scriptures, its interpretation, and even preaching. I am forever grateful. By God’s grace, I served as a leader in the CU all through the four years on campus and this ignited a great desire in me to serve God among students. Seeing God save, transform, and use a student whose life was almost wasted in waves of college deception and vanity, gave me so much fulfillment and left me in awe of God’s love and grace. Two STEM Staff who consecutively served in our CU became my close friends. Their very needed presence and help in the CU inspired me to join Stem and be like them. They greatly mentored me.
The invitation to join the STEM Program was to me an answered prayer. I had spent some time in prayer in my 4th year seeking God’s guidance and direction for my life as I drew nearer to clearing my studies and soon after, the STEM invitation came. Having learned that STEM is a refinery of the Lord, I look forward to being refined into Godly character, to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ, to love God more, and to find clarity of God’s calling in my life. Above all, it is my sincere prayer that God would touch, impact, and cause transformation in the lives of the students I’ll be working with.
I am trusting God for Gospel hearted friends to journey with me in prayer and financial support as I serve the students. I will be raising my ministry operational costs with a monthly target of Kshs. 22,000. I invite you to kindly consider joining me in this great calling, to see students in institutions of higher learning reached with the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ and equipped for effective Christian living for the transformation of our society.
