I grew up attending church but was not well enlightened on matters of salvation. I could hear my mom pray for me to be saved almost every morning when I woke up to study. I did not know why she kept on praying such a prayer because I was not a ‘bad’ person, in my opinion. However, with time, my desire for salvation kept on growing and in form one, I surrendered my life to the Lordship of Jesus Christ during a weekend challenge.
I understood Salvation well when I joined the University of Eldoret to pursue a degree in Science (Pure Mathematics and Physics) with education. I joined the University Christian Union since I had heard about it before I joined campus. The CU ran a Discipleship program dabbed MIZIZI which I joined shortly after the orientation week. In it, my faith grew and I continually became rooted in my relationship with Christ.
I met the STEM Staff in our CU who walked closely with me and advised me on matters of life and salvation. When I became a leader in the Christian Union, I benefited greatly from the leadership training sessions organized by the Focus Staff at the CU and regional level, with the aim of building our capacity first as disciples of Jesus but also as leaders entrusted with the responsibility of leading the fellowship and enhancing Christian witness on campus. I was very privileged to serve as the regional executive committee chairperson while on campus.
When I was asked to join STEM, it was an affirmation of what God had been preparing me for though I felt very inadequate. I have since then been praying to God to mold me for His service. I pray to God to help me teach the word of truth and point to students to Christ, from whom they can only find hope and peace. I am saddened by the rising cases of depression among students that has led to many suicidal cases in higher learning institutions. I pray that God will use me to reach, mentor and counsel students as I walk with them. I trust God will mold me into Christ-likeness during my service. I also pray that my partners will experience God as they journey with me and support my ministry.
Pray with me that God will grant students in institutions of higher learning a teachable spirit so that they may learn and be transformed by the word of God. Pray also for the FOCUS family, that God will grant us more wisdom and knowledge to continue serving and proclaiming the Lordship of Jesus Christ among Students.
